Our vision for
sustainable print.

“Sustainability shapes how we develop products, run our sites, manage waste and circularity and prepare the organization for the future.”

Alexander Unterschütz — Chief Executive Officer

Our approach to sustainability.

At XSYS, advancing sustainable print means helping our customers produce high-quality print more efficiently, safely and responsibly.

Through innovation, operational excellence and collaboration across the value chain, we strive to reduce environmental impacts while delivering the performance, quality and reliability that modern print demands. We also recognize that the future of our industry depends on people, which is why we are committed to attracting, developing and retaining the talent, skills and expertise needed to drive progress for years to come.

Our sustainability framework is built around three strategic pillars.

INNOVATE

Designing for impact

Delivering sustainable products and innovation to our customers through R&D and service, as well as customer and industry partnerships, to enhance the print performance, footprint and end-of-life of our solutions.

OPERATE

Reducing environmental impact

Driving operational excellence across our manufacturing facilities to reduce environmental impact and maximize production efficiency, while reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions throughout our value chain.

EMPOWER

Empowering our people

Creating a safe, empowering, high-performance culture that fosters innovation and supports both today’s workforce and the next generation of XSYS talent.

Together, they provide a clear framework for delivering lasting value for our customers, our people and the industries we serve.

Turning commitment
into action.

nyloflex® eco series — a pioneering approach

Launched in 2024, the nyloflex® eco series was among sthe first flexographic printing plates in the industry to incorporate certified renewable, bio-based raw materials. Delivering a product carbon footprint reduction of up to 10% without compromising performance, it also helps reduce energy use during processing. Following the launch, our bio-based plates accounted for approximately 50% of new plate sales within their product category , and we continue to refine the formulation based on customer feedback.

Up to 10% Lower product carbon footprint

Working to close the loop on solvent use

At our Willstätt and Morristown sites, solvent is captured, purified and reused instead of being discarded. At Willstätt, solvent condensate from plate production is recovered, filtered and returned to the process, while at Morristown, distillation separates clean solvent from impurities for reuse in plate processing. In 2025, we recovered around 44 tonnes of solvent across both sites, reducing waste, conserving virgin resources and supporting more circular manufacturing.

Building a global safety network

Our global safety network, first established in 2025, brings together our site Health, safety, and environment (HSE) leaders to share best practice, learn from incidents and harmonize safety standards across XSYS. In its first year, the network introduced global safety procedures, including standardized risk categories and incident reporting processes. This laid the foundations for consistent safety targets and a more proactive, prevention-focused safety culture.

INNOVATE

Designing for impact.

The INNOVATE pillar of our sustainability framework channels our R&D expertise, customer relationships and industry partnerships towards a clear goal: outstanding print quality alongside measurable sustainability progress.

We believe innovation is a key driver of sustainable transformation: continuous product development and collaboration helps us to create solutions that improve performance, reduce environmental impact and support a more sustainable print value chain. Only by working closely with customers, suppliers and partners can we address the complex systemic challenges of our industry, such as plate circularity, and help shape a more sustainable future for print.

01 — Designing safer, lower-impact products

Embedding sustainability into product design by reducing lifecycle impacts, advancing material innovation and developing high-performance solutions with a lower environmental footprint.

02 — Enabling circularity

Embedding circular design principles into our products to enable the repurposing or recycling of used plates — a clear but complex priority that requires sustained R&D investment and strong external collaboration.

03 — Delivering on quality

Maximizing durability, consistency and performance to help ensure customers can print right first time. Done well, this reduces waste, extends product life and lowers costs.

OPERATE

Reducing environmental impact.

OPERATE focuses on the impacts we can most directly influence: the efficiency of our sites, the energy we use, the chemicals we manage, and the waste we generate.

Delivering on this means collaborating across our manufacturing network, with our teams working alongside suppliers and partners to address impacts beyond our own sites. We aim to create more sustainable processes through targeted actions and innovations that advance our ambitions and long-term business performance.

01 — Reducing climate impact

Covering energy use and associated greenhouse gas emissions across our manufacturing and supply chain, as well as reducing energy demand from customer equipment where possible. This includes using more renewable energy, decreasing the energy intensity of our processes, and working with partners to decarbonize our supply chain.

02 — Managing chemicals responsibly

Improving chemical handling practices, increasing solvent recovery and recycling, and working toward the elimination of substances of concern and very high concern from our processes as we translate product design decisions into safe, compliant operational practices across our value chain.

03 — Minimizing waste

Addressing production offcuts, scrap, rejects and inefficiencies that arise in plate and equipment production. Reducing these cuts the volume of waste generated, as well as reducing resources. Increasing yield, exploring recycling opportunities and eliminating the need for landfilling across our sites is a major focus for us.

EMPOWER

Empowering our people.

EMPOWER is centered around creating a safe, inclusive and high-performing workplace where our people can thrive. As our industry evolves, developing the skills, capabilities and culture needed for the future is essential to driving innovation, quality and strong customer partnerships.

Our approach is to invest in our people: supporting knowledge sharing and fostering an environment built on trust, accountability and inclusion. A strong, empowered workforce enables us to adapt to change, strengthen collaboration and deliver value for our customers and business.

01 — Prioritizing health and safety

Supporting physical and psychological safety across all locations, fostering a culture of accountability where people feel empowered to speak up and mistakes are treated as learning opportunities that drive continuous improvement.

02 — Investing in training and development

Building a structured learning ecosystem that develops critical capabilities, spanning essential training, functional learning, leadership development and knowledge transfer. We are clarifying career pathways and our processes for talent management.

03 — Fostering an inclusive culture of ownership

Culture plays a defining role in how we perform together. We are deepening dialogue, reinforcing shared expectations around feedback, recognition and accountability and listening to our people so their insights shape how we communicate, make decisions and collaborate.

Accountability,
built into the business.

Robust governance is fundamental to creating long-term value, supporting sustainable business performance and ensuring effective management of risk, compliance and sustainability priorities. At XSYS, governance is embedded across the organization through clear accountability, disciplined decision-making and strong oversight at both Board and Executive Leadership levels.

The Board of Directors of our parent holding company is the highest decision-making body which provides strategic direction and oversight of business performance, risk management and sustainability matters. Day-to-day leadership is led by the CEO and Executive Leadership Team. Sustainability governance is integrated into the business through the Sustainability and HSEQ function, reporting to the CEO and represented at Executive Leadership level. The Executive Leadership Team plays an active role in sustainability-related decision-making, with the Board informed and engaged as appropriate.
